About PDF/A

PDF/A is an ISO-standardized version of the PDF format designed for long-term archiving of electronic documents:

  • Ensures documents can be reproduced exactly the same way in the future
  • Self-contained (all fonts, color profiles, and other resources embedded)
  • Prohibits features that could affect long-term preservation (JavaScript, encryption, etc.)
  • Required by many government agencies, legal institutions, and archives

Note: Converting to PDF/A may increase file size due to font embedding and other requirements. Some features like JavaScript, audio/video content, and external references will be removed during conversion.
